I FOUND the recent article ‘Inside the ‘disgrace’ of Yorkshire’s asylum seeker postcode lottery’ excellent, well researched and balanced.

The comments column, however, made a depressing read. I’m glad to say that Bradford City of Sanctuary’s email inbox
daily reveals a very different
face of the general public,
offering their homes, their
time and their money to help people who have fled to
our cities from horrors the
vast majority of us could
only imagine in our worst nightmares.

They, of course, tend not to spend their time filling the comments columns of our papers.

At the last count 176 organisations, large and
small, across Bradford
had signed up to commit
themselves to welcoming and supporting asylum seekers and refugees.

I am proud to live there.

YVETTE Cooper needs to put her brain into gear before putting her mouth into motion. I, and many others, are not against helping refugee children, but many of those allowed in are obviously not children – some must be in their 20s by the looks of them.
