I AM no killjoy, but this cycling fad is just getting a little bit out of hand.

Rude cyclists think they have more right than me to be on the road in my car.

Road closures this weekend for the Tour de Yorkshire
will cause a lot of disruption to a lot of people who are not remotely interested in bikes,
and another smack in the
face is that they have helped
to finance these road and
town closures via their council tax.

While I am in Victor Meldrew mode, I will give you what I think should be made law.

All cyclists over the age of 18 should be made to display a small registration number plate on the back of their seat.

This would be issued by
DVLA and a yearly road tax payable.

They should be made to
have public liability insurance too.

All cycle retailers would, by law, have to pass on names and addresses to DVLA of all new bike owners.

I don’t think that’s too much to ask, they will help fill a few potholes, and pay for my car damage if they cause an accident.
