Playing children killed in
park attack

Have your say

At least 10 Palestinians, including children, have been killed in an attack on a Gaza park, Palestinian officials said.

Israelis and the Palestinians are blaming each other for the strike.

Children were playing on a swing when the strike hit the park in the Shati refugee camp in Gaza City, said doctors. A total of 46 people were injured.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has reinforced the Security Council’s call for “an immediate and unconditional humanitarian ceasefire” in the Gaza war and demanded Israel and Hamas end the violence “in the name of humanity”.

He urged Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal to demonstrate “compassionate leadership” to end the suffering of war-weary citizens.

One Direction singer Zayn Malik, has received abusive messages after he posted a Twitter message in support of Palestine.

Malik, who was brought up a Muslim in Bradford, posted the hashtag #freePalestine to his 13 million followers yesterday. Among the abusive responses were messages telling him to “go kill yourself”.

But others praised him for the comment.
