THE HISTORIC backdrop of Castle Howard will once again play host the Sport of Kings as the White Rose Polo Club descend on the North Yorkshire estate this Sunday.
Members of the public are invited to enjoy the “quintessentially English day out” as the club, which is based North Cliff near Market Weighton, host the Castle Howard Cup in the grounds of the stately home for the seventh year running.
Claudia Aylott, from the club, which was founded in 2007, said: “Castle Howard is one of Yorkshire’s finest country houses and both watching and playing polo there is a real thrill for everyone.”
Some of Yorkshire’s rising polo talents will take place in the competition.
Castle Howard’s event manager Katie Collin said: “The tournament is always well received by both visitors and polo enthusiasts with the house making a stunning backdrop to the games.”
Gates open at 11.30am and car passes, for four people, are available at £40 on the day.
