an artist who studied in Sheffield has been shortlisted for the Turner Prize.

George Shaw graduated with a degree in fine art in 1989 from Sheffield City Polytechnic, now Hallam University.

Shaw, born in Coventry in 1966, is well known for his highly-detailed paintings of suburban landscapes which are rendered in paints more commonly used for model aeroplanes.
