EVERY time I jump on the local Transdev bus I have a look at information board inside which they use for displaying new fares, routes etc.
I thought by now I might have seen the announcement “Reduction in fares next week, due to the continued drop in oil prices”.
Over the last few years we have had plenty displaying the rises due to the price of oil.
It reminds me of going for a bag of chips as a boy and the owner saying they had gone up a penny due to using new potatoes, they never seemed to come down again did they?

ALONG with other newspapers, the Yorkshire Post is always advising girls to be natural and not try to be like their favourite stick-thin celebrities (Weighty lesson, Yorkshire Post, June 15).
Females are good at multi-tasking but can they really be too fat/thin at the same time? Maybe if the often self-appointed experts sang from the same hymn sheet the picture would be clearer.

MR Hanwell (Yorkshire Post, June 20) is quite right. The best place to learn French is France. We tried teaching French in primary schools in the 1970s.
We had no teachers, so we put a tape recorder with pre-recorded phrases in the classroom. The teacher was to rehearse her children. The result was a group of chanting parrots.
Michael Gove is a very nice man but he is a visionary and completely impractical.
