Dozens of firefighters have been tackling a blaze at a pallet yard in Barnsley this morning.

More than 40 firefighters were at the industrial site on Lund Hill Lane in Royston after a fire broke out at around 2.45am.

Six appliances from South Yorkshire and two from West Yorkshire managed to bring the blaze under control.

Fire breaks were created to stop the further spread of the fire and firefighters are expected to remain in attendance at the incident for the next few hours.

Residents and businesses in the local area are advised to keep their windows and doors closed as a precaution due to any remaining smoke.
