Rita, Sue and Bob Too star George Costigan returns to Bradford

Costigan was pictured at The Beacon, which has since closed, on the city's Buttershaw estate as the film celebrates its 30th anniversary.

The comedy - which tells the story of a married philanderer's affair with two schoolgirls amid the social unrest of Thatcher's working-class north - has been released on Blu-ray and DVD for the first time.

The actor, who starred in the lead role as Bob, has since gone on to appear in Line of Duty and Happy Valley.

“Returning to Bradford and Buttershaw is a little like stepping back in time. I wondered if someone re-shot the movie today (apart from ubiquitous mobile phones) how much has actually change. Well, The Beacon is boarded up...and the tagline would be 'Theresa May's Britain with her knickers down...' " said Costigan.

"But the values, the deprivation, the despair, the humour, the survival - no, they're all in good working order. And doubtless the (southern) press would still not believe it was a portrayal of a real situation.”
