HOW sickening it has been to see the younger royals take the lead in the First World War commemoration. The main combatants were almost all related to Queen Victoria, through her children. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh had the decency to take more of a back seat.

CHRIS Bond (The Yorkshire Post, August 1) states that Reginald Pohlmann was killed in 1917. This is not so. Second Lieutenant Pohlmann was a pilot with 25 Squadron RFC. Aged 19, he was killed in action, with his observer R Ireland, on February 5, 1918.
