POlice have scaled back the search for a missing York teenager who was last seen stripping naked and running into a river on Tuesday.
Underwater searches of the River Ouse, which have been carried out by West Yorkshire Police over four days, concluded yesterday.
However, officers are still continuing their inquiries in a bid to track down 19-year-old Jordan Sullivan, 19, who was last seen at 9.30am near the river in Naburn.
The teenager’s family has praised the efforts of those involved in the search.
His mother, Nicola Jobling, said: “I would like to thank all of the kind people who are sending the family such thoughtful and supportive messages. Jordan is very special to all who know him, because he makes them each feel special.
“My thoughts are with all of those who must be feeling as upset, at this very difficult time, as the family are.
“I would like to thank all of the emergency services for their hard efforts to find Jordan. I am also grateful to the volunteers from the search and rescue teams who have given their own time to try and find Jordan.
“And a thank you in particular to those officers who are spending time with me and my family and keeping me informed at all times about how the search and inquiry is going.”
Witnesses can contact North Yorkshire Police on 101.
