SEARCH and rescue teams continued with a major operation yesterday to find a missing Yorkshire holidaymaker who vanished while hiking in mountains near the Costa del Sol in Spain.
Gordon Simm, 63, from Kirkbymoorside in North Yorkshire, had been on holiday with his wife, Wendy, when he headed out on a walk in the Sierra Almijara mountains near Nerja, east of Malaga, on Saturday.
The hike was due to last a day-and-a-half, but his wife reported him missing on Sunday evening after he failed to return to their hotel.
The search has involved mountain rescue units and a helicopter has also been drafted in.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office last night confirmed that Mr Simm, who is an experienced walker, had yet to be found.
