Sheffield's Kell Brook made of the write stuff
BRITISH welterweight champion Kell Brook has been chosen by the Boxing Writers' Club as Britain's Best Young Boxer of the Year.
The 23-year-old Sheffield fighter edged British light-heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly by just one vote - the closest ballot in the award's 57-year history.
Brook (20-0, 13KOs) has made three defences of the belt he won in June last year and defends against former WBO title challenger Michael Jennings in Liverpool next month.
He will be presented with the Geoffrey Simpson award at the Writers' Club's annual dinner next month.
