Sheffield Wednesday target two forwards but Sodje not for sale
SHEFFIELD Wednesday manager Brian Laws hopes to bring in up to two attacking players before Thursday's loan deadline.
Speaking at today's annual general meeting of shareholders in Sheffield, Laws said he had been working tirelessly to add to an Owls squad that has won just two of their last 12 Championship games.
Tom Soares is one of the players reported to be on his radar and while he would not name names, Laws said: "We are hoping to bring in one or maybe two players. But these players have got to be absolutely right for the club.
"We are trying to cover all areas but defensively in recent weeks we have tightened up, so it is in attacking areas that we are looking."
He also made assurances that he wanted to keep Akpo Sodje at the club.
The striker has been sent out on loan to League One promotion-chasers Charlton to get match fitness, and has impressed in his short time at the Valley.
Addicks manager Phil Parkinson had been reported as saying he would like to make the deal permanent.
But Laws said: "Akpo has gone out for a specific reason, to get games under his belt. He's a confidence player, it's all or nothing with him.
"We will review after 28 days and if he gets a bagful of goals we'll be delighted to see him back. But his match fitness is imperitive."
