Simpson Packaging, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, relocated from a site near Dewsbury to the Ossett 40 development near Wakefield, developed by Gregory Property Group.

It bought the 33,000 sq ft building for £2.4m and spent a further £500,000 fitting it out.

Simpson Packaging supplies packaging materials, handling equipment and work-wear to the removals, self-storage and furniture industries as well as being a major force in industrial packaging.

Tony Dawes, one of the founding partners of the Simpson Packaging group, which also operates White Rose Packaging and Dependable Packaging and employs 90 people, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the new building.

“Gregory Property Group presented a unique opportunity for us to design and build a new facility that is perfectly located for distribution access. We had outgrown our previous premises but needed to stay locally to retain our valued workforce.

“The new facility at Ossett 40 more than doubles our operating space with greater height, more office accommodation and extended parking allowing us to invest in state-of-the art equipment for greater stockholding and faster moving stock lines.”

Simpson Packaging is projecting a £15m turnover this year and, as well as investing in new warehouse equipment, has opened a trade counter for business and public use.

Gregory Property Group acquired the three-acre site late 2014 and secured full planning consent to deliver 57,000 sq ft of new light industrial accommodation. The pre-sale to Simpson Packaging kick-started the development.
