The much-loved star joins Doncaster diva Lesley Garrett and Forces favourite Dame Vera Lynn in supporting Lost Chord, the charity that uses music to enhance the lives of dementia sufferers in more than 60 South Yorkshire care homes.
The announcement of Sir Cliff's support for the cause comes as Lost Chord appoints local charity marketing specialists Keep Your Fork to manage their fundraising strategy .
Helena Muller, Lost Chord's chief executive, said: "We have been trying to get the right person in post for the last couple of years now without success, so when we met with Faye Smith from Keep Your Fork and her team of charity marketing and fundraising experts, we were delighted.
"Coupled with confirmation that Sir Cliff Richard has agreed to join as one of our wonderful national patrons, we are starting the new financial year determined to maintain and enhance our essential income.
"This will ensure that hundreds more people can continue to receive our services."
