Detectives investigating human remains found on a building site have confirmed the skeleton is that of a man.
Suffolk Police are examining cold cases after skeletal remains were found on a site in Valley Road, Ipswich, on Monday.
Officers revealed that they have found further remains, belonging to the same person, since the initial discovery. Clothing has also been found, including a shoe and outer clothing.
Det Chief Insp Neil Luckett said: “I can confirm that the remains are male but inquiries are still ongoing to identify his age.
“We are in the process of piecing together information in order to ascertain the identity of the man and how he came to be here. His death is being treated as unexplained at this time.
“I am still keen to hear from anyone who can provide any information about the site and its history.”
The plot of land has been vacant for more than 50 years and the discovery was made as workers began laying the foundations for a new home.
