Soldier faces cocaine charge

A serving soldier has been charged with attempting to import a Class A drug after being arrested at Heathrow.

Daryl Archer, 26, was held at Terminal One on Wednesday following the seizure of about five kilos of cocaine.

Archer, of 13 Air Assault Support Regiment, The Royal Logistic Corps, was arrested after arriving on a flight from Sao Paulo in Brazil.

The soldier, of Merville Barracks, Colchester, was remanded in custody until January 23 after appearing before magistrates.
