Fabricated steel worth £100,000 was stolen from an industrial unit near Selby, police said.

Thieves entered the yard on Sherburn in Elmet Industrial Estate sometime overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday and took the steel along with a large trailer which it was being stored in.

Police say the thieves must have used a HGV tractor unit to move the trailer, which didn’t have any registration plates attached. Officers are appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious people or vehicles in the area around the time of the incident to come forward.

Officers are also keen to hear from anybody who has recently been offered a large quantity of fabricated steel for sale.

Anyone who can help officers with their inquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Pc Nicola Gill.
