Detectives are investigating reports of a serious sex attack.
Sandal Castle was closed this morning (Thursday) as part of enquiries into the alleged assault of a 32-year-old woman in a pub car park in Heath at around 1.50am.
A Wakefield Council spokeswoman said the site has now fully reopened.
Det Insp Andy Welbourne, of Wakefield CID, said: “Initial enquiries are ongoing into a report of a serious sexual assault in Heath and police forensic officers have been carrying out enquiries there and at Sandal Castle where we have a linked crime scene.
“The victim is being spoken with by specially trained officers as investigations continue.”
