POLICE are hunting thieves who drove a car at a man and struck him as he tried to stop them stealing tools from a van outside his home in Doncaster.

The victim jumped on the bonnet of the VW Golf during the incident in Willow Road, Armthorpe, at around 10pm on Tuesday October 27.

Police said he confronted a man he spotted interfering with his white Ford Transit van.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Once outside, a black VW Golf is said to have driven towards the victim, colliding with him and causing minor injuries as he managed to jump on to the bonnet of the car. The car windscreen smashed as a result of the incident. Officers believe the car left the Armthorpe area driving towards the West Moor Link road."

Police said three Bosch power drills were taken from the van.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen a black VW Golf with a damaged windscreen to get in touch.
