Burgess, a former Bradford Bulls star who now plays for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Australia’s National League, is seen on video pulling 100 dollars from his wallet for lemonade seller Juliette Jones, who was raising money for research into motor neurone disease, the same condition that killed Burgess’ father, Mark.

Juliette, 13, posted the video of Burgess on Facebook. He is seen being asked for a photograph, but immediately takes out his wallet and hands over the money, then asks if HE can be pictured with HER.

The youngster is open mouthed as Burgess says: “I’ll donate tonight and get some lemonade next time.”

Later he posted a picture with her to his Instagram account, on which he said he had had the pleasure of meeting an “inspirational” youngster.

Juliette has been selling her lemonade for two years to raise money for research into the disease after her grandfather died from complications.

She posted on Facebook: “Sam Burgess, the kindest sweetheart in the whole world, donated $100 to CSJ leMoNaiD right there on the spot. And HE wanted a photo with ME!!”

Dewsbury-born Burgess is one of four rugby-playing brothers. Younger siblings Tom and George are team-mates at South Sydney, while older brother Luke plays for Manly Warringah Sea Eagles.
