THE brightest and best businesses in the region were honoured at The Yorkshire Post’s Excellence in Business Awards last night.

The awards dinner, which attracted more than 200 people to The Queens Hotel in Leeds, included an inspiring speech from the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, who urged Yorkshire business leaders to “blaze a trail” and fight inequality.

Liz and Terry Bramall won the Individual Award for their significant philanthropy work after selling Keepmoat for £787m.

Mr Bramall told the audience: “We have seen some good stuff tonight. This should only be the beginning. Let’s make the cake bigger and then everybody benefits.”
