A man pleaded not guilty to trying to smother his terminally ill father to death on a hospital ward.
Joseph Peachey, 48, is alleged to have tried to suffocate Albert Peachey while visiting him at Eastbourne District General Hospital in East Sussex on December 20 last year.
Peachey, of Badlesmere Road, Eastbourne, denied the allegation during a plea and case management hearing at Hove Crown Court yesterday.
He also pleaded not guilty to a charge of affray and four counts of assault on two policemen and members of hospital staff as they tried to detain him.
Judge Richard Hayward set a date for a trial, expected to last seven days, for June 20. Peachey was remanded in custody.
