RESIDENTS and shoppers in Rotherham are being urged to familiarise themselves with the route of a march by the far-Right English Defence League through the town centre today.
Police say they have no power to ban the proposed demonstration but plan to close a number of roads in the area and are working to minimise the disruption caused.
EDL demonstrators will gather from 11am and, from 1pm, will march from Bridgegate, along the side on the Minister, onto High Street, to College Street and into All Saints Square.
Demonstrators from opposition group United Against Fascism (UAF) will gather outside the Town Hall from 11am before marching along Moorgate, down Mansfield Road, onto Wellgate, Doncaster Rd and Howard St before ending up on Effingham Street.
They will move into All Saints Square when the EDL have left.
