A BREWERY that is creating a special royal wedding beer is on the lookout for a loved-up couple to help with its brewing.
Castle Rock Brewery is making traditional ale Kiss Me Kate to mark the wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton on April 29.
And now the Nottingham-based brewery is looking for a couple who are tying the knot on the same day to help make the tipple.
The couple will be invited to Castle Rock to help experts brew Kiss Me Kate. They will “mash in”, which involves putting malted barley in the mix, then lovingly sprinkle in the hops.
After that they will be taken off for lunch at a nearby real ale pub.
They will create 46,080 pints of beer - enough for one in every 1,000 British adults according to Castle Rock.
On top of this, just 100 bottles will be produced for memento collectors and toasting future royal events.
Brewing will happen some time in the week starting March 13, and Kiss Me Kate will be available for any UK pub to order from then, for sale from early April until the big day.
Castle Rock’s 22 pubs in Yorkshire and the East Midlands will also have it available on draught throughout the month.
The couple who help create the special beer must be at least 18 and can be from anywhere in the UK, but will have to make their own way to Nottingham.
Castle Rock commercial manager and head of tasting Charlie Blomeley said they would like to see pictures of the happy couple and hear all about their wedding and honeymoon plans, as well as what they did on Valentine’s Day.
The winning couple will then be picked out of a hat, she said.
She said the sweethearts will be given some of “their ale” for a toast at their wedding, adding: “We want this beer to be something special for a couple.
“Why should Kate have all the attention?”
Also hosting the happy couple will be Castle Rock’s head brewer, Adrian Redgrove.
He said Kiss Me Kate will be a great British beer full of British hops and barley.
“Kiss Me Kate will be elegant, tasteful and British to the core,” he said.
“It’ll be brewed to 5%, pale in colour and we’re sure it’ll be the ideal way to toast the couple’s future happiness.
“We’ll certainly be enjoying it in our celebrations here at the brewery.”
