Two children have been seriously injured and a woman is fighting for life after they were struck by a car in South Yorkshire.
Police said the injured youngsters - a five-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl - were struck along with a 39-year-old woman and a seven-year-old boy on Bridge Street, Swinton, close to the junction with Dun Street.
The pedestrians were hit by a black Vauxhall Antara at around 2.50pm yesterday.
The injured woman is in a critical condition in hospital and the two injured children are said to have suffered serious injuries.
A 42-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident and bailed pending further inquiries.
A police spokeswoman said: “A 39-year-old woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where she remains in a critical condition.
“Two children, a five-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
“A seven-year-old boy also sustained minor injuries.
“A 42-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident and bailed pending further inquiries.”
