The Beijing Olympics will be rounded off in style with celebrations planned across the UK on Sunday.

Kicking things off, London has an eight-minute slot as part of the spectacular closing ceremony in Beijing, which is due to start around 1pm British time.

Rock legend Jimmy Page and singer Leona Lewis will perform a new version of Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love, and David Beckham is expected to kick a football off the top of a red double decker bus.

Crowds will watch on screens from the 2012 party in the
Mall, where gates open at midday.

The handover of the Olympics from Beijing to London, crowning the capital as official summer host city, is expected to take place some time after 2.30pm.

Events are planned across the UK to mark the handover, with big screens in 32 locations and a variety of musical performances.

The celebration will link up with Notting Hill Carnival, while a mass dance workshop is planned in Portsmouth, the Halle Orchestra will give a free
outdoor performance in Manchester and in Cumbria mountaineer Sir Chris Bonington, above, will lead a group to scale Scafell Pike, England's highest peak and fly the Olympic handover flag.
