Hero: Usain Bolt

He became the first man to win the Olympic sprint double for 24 years with his second world record in five days in Beijing.
Bolt – who celebrates his 22nd birthday today – clocked 19.30secs to break Michael Johnson's 12-year-old record of 19.32s.


Medal hope: Shanaze Reade

Reade is aiming to continue her recent domination of women's BMX, having wo
n the 2007 and 2008 world championships.

Despite having a crash in her first seeding race yesterday, the 19-year-old has the fastest time in her semi-final, which means she gets to choose her gate in the first race.


Other medal prospects

Iain Percy (sailing), Phillips Idowu (triple jump) and David Davies (swimming) are among the Team GB athletes bidding for medals on day 13.

Percy is aiming for his second Olympic medal after winning gold in the Finn class at Sydney 2000.

In the USA, the biggest audience for a single event since 1990 was recorded when 40m people tuned in to NBC to watch swimmer Michael Phelps win his eighth gold medal.

The major area of expansion is in watching TV coverage online on highlights on demand on websites. In China alone, 102m people have accessed the Games live online, and 16m used the on-demand service.
