Police investigating reports of a man accosting an 11-year-old boy outside a shop in Hull have arrested a suspect.

A 30-year-old local man was arrested shortly before 8am this morning on suspicion of attempted kidnap.

The incident happened at Sainsbury’s in Chanterlands Avenue at around 5.25pm on Sunday when the boy was approached by a man who grabbed him by the arm and attempted to walk away.

The boy managed to get away and ran into the shop. The man then left the scene.

Humberside Police appealed to the public for help identifying the culprit yesterday, and in a statement confirming the subsequent arrest this morning, the force said: “Thank you for all the valuable calls into the police yesterday, suggesting who the person might be. You have helped make this arrest.”
