A ghost hunter captured chilling footage of a ghost-like figure floating through Wakefield Cathedral, which he believes is the spirit of a 12th Century monk.
The mysterious clip shows a shadowy mass moving through the West Yorkshire cathedral.
It was captured by ghost hunter Mark Vernon, 50, on Wednesday and he believes the spirit even spoke to him.
He said: “I was investigating it for 40 minutes - I caught a ghost, a shadow man, walking past my camera in broad daylight.
“If you listen carefully when it appears, I do believe he says ‘I’m here’.
“He has a bit of a saucy mouth I’m afraid.”
Mr Vernon, who has been a paranormal investigator for the past 35 years, said that a team of ghosts he works with on his investigations told him that the spirit was a Monk called Father Daniel who was based in the cathedral during the 1100s.
He says he is adamant that there is a lot more ghosts in the Grade1 listed building.
Now he wants to spend the night at the holy building so he can capture more of them on camera.
Mr Vernon said: “I need to get back in to film it again. I will film it again without a shadow of a doubt but I want to be in there myself with the lights out.
“If it’s in there, 100 per cent I will get it on film.
“They have just been doing renovations at the church and I think that stirred things up a little bit.”
Mr Vernon, who is single, says he is “clairaudient”, meaning he is able to hear spirits speak, and the team of spirits he works with tipped him off about Father Daniels presence in the cathedral.
“They told me he is coming and then told me his name,” he said
“I have the ability to make things happen when I walk into a room. I get told what is coming.”
