..........................

John O'Farrell's first book, Things Can Only Get Better, was a memoir of his unhappy time supporting Labour during its wilderness years in the eighties. He followed that with the comic novels The Best a Man Can Get, This Is Your Life and May Contain Nuts.

He's also a noted scriptwriter, having worked for both Spitting Image (where he is credited for making John Major entirely grey) and Have I Got News For You. He also wrote for Alas Smith and Jones, The Peter Principle and the Nick Park film Chicken Run, amongst others. He retains links wioth the Labour party and in the 2001 election he fought a losing battle for them in the Tory stronghold of Maidenhead.
