HULL CITY gained their first win since the opening day of the Premier League season at crisis club Newcastle United with a 2-1 success.
There were also impressive wins for 10-man Leeds at Swindon, Sheffield Wednesday over Watford and the good times carry on at Valley Parade for Stuart McCall's Bradford City.

Premier League
Newcastle United 1 Hull City 2
Two goals from Marlon King heaped the pressure on Newcastle United as the Tigers enjoyed a Premier League win on the road. Debutant Xisco pulled a goal back nine minutes from time for the Toon.

Championship
Birmingham City 1 Doncaster Rovers 0
Ten-man Birmingham showed great resilience to grind out a dogged victory over a Doncaster side who dominated from almost start to finish in the Coca-Cola Championship clash at St Andrews.

Cameron Jerome volleyed home the only goal of the game just seconds after the restart as Blues played for 66 minutes with a numerical disadvantage following Mehdi Nafti's straight red for a needless two-footed challenge on James Coppinger.

Blackpool 1 Barnsley 0
Former Sheffield United striker Steve Kabba pounced with just four minutes remaining to spoil Barnsley's day by the seaside.

Derby County 2 Sheffield United 1
Two goals in as many minutes sparked the game into life. First Matthew Kilgallon headed into his own goal, but his blushes were spared when Darius Henderson netted at the right end moments later. Former Blade Rob Hulse pounced for the Rams winner.

Sheffield Wednesday 2 Watford 0
Marcus Tudgay opened the Owls scoring after 20 minutes, with a deflected shot wrongfooting goalkeeper Mart Poom. Tommy Spurr added a second after the break.

League One
Huddersfield Town 1 Tranmere Rovers 2
Edrissa Sonko and Ryan Shotton scored as Tranmere came from behind to win 2-1 at Huddersfield, the hosts having taken the lead through Liam Dickinson.

Swindon Town 1 Leeds United 3
The Whites suffered a major setback after just nine minutes when Alan Sheehan was shown a straight red card for a professional foul.

But Jermaine Beckford gave 10-man Leeds a surprise lead when he fired home a 22nd minute opener, Neil Kilkenny added second before Beckford clinched victory in the 84th minute.

League Two
Bradford City 4 Exeter City 1
Strikers Peter Thorne and Michael Boulding scored two goals apiece as Bradford City stormed back from a goal down at the interval to crush Exeter City at Valley Parade.

Rotherham United 2 Rochdale 2
Rotherham moved to minus six after two late goals earned them a 2-2 draw with Rochdale. Jordan Rhodes and William Buckley put Rochdale on the way to victory, but the sending off of Lee Thorpe changed the game.

A Rory McArdle own goal gave the Millers hope, and Reuben Reid snatched the equaliser in the last minute.

Blue Square Premier
Kettering 4 York City 2
York City crashed to a 4-2 win at newly-promoted Kettering. City twice equalised via Brodie and Purkiss, but the hosts ran out winners thanks to braces from Seddon and Christie.
