BRADFORD Bulls bounced back from a slow start to send Castleford Tigers to their 12th defeat of the engage Super League season with an impressive second half display.
Five days before they host neighbours Leeds in a derby at Grattan Stadium the Bulls romped to an eight-try victory over opponents who are now five points adrift at the foot of the table.
Castleford did deliver a performance which was much improved
from their hapless effort in defeat by Wakefield at Cardiff two weeks earlier but paid the ultimate price for their defensive frailty.
The Tigers started brightly to build a 10-0 lead with tries by Michael Shenton and Ryan McGoldrick but were soon pegged back as Bradford drew level with tries of their own by Paul Sykes and Terry Newton.
Joe Westerman edged Castleford back in front by racing through from a long pass by Luke Dorn only for the Bulls to dash their hopes of a third Super League win in 2008 with a three-try blitz late in the half.
But for kicking off Castleford never touched the ball as Sam Burgess, Glenn Morrison and Jamie Langley all scored and with Paul Deacon landing three goals the Bulls led 24-18 at the break.
A try on 52 minutes by Michael Wainwright shortly after James Evans had been sin-binned for persistent holding down saw the home side mount an early threat but more weak tackling allowed 12-man Bradford to hit straight back with tries by Michael Platt and Ben Jeffries.
Simon Finnigan added an eighth try for Bradford and though Dorn raced away for a fine solo effort late in the game it could not disguise another inadequate performance by Castleford who were booed from the field to cries of 'Sack the board' from their disenchanted supporters.
