HUDDERSFIELD Giants' head coach Jon Sharp hailed the precocious talents of teenager Michael Lawrence after his starring role in this nine-try demolition of Hull Kingston Rovers.
Highly-rated centre Lawrence, 18, crashed over twice and produced a scintillating display as the Giants made a mockery of their recent poor run.
Sharp said: "I don't want to put any pressure on the kid, but we've known since he was 15 that he had
fantastic, prodigious talent and I'm seeing him improve from one week to the next.
"I thought he was great against Matt King two weeks ago and he defended well against (Jake) Webster last week and did the same again.
"He's going to be a fantastic player if the gods shine on him and he remains injury free. He's got a fantastic attitude and is very professional.
"He's clever as well and has got football intellect. He absorbs information very well and you don't need to repeat things to him."
Of the victory, which saw Giants claim revenge for their Challenge Cup exit at Rovers a week earlier, Sharp added: "I thought we were very good. I believe this performance had been coming all year.
"We have been so close on several occasions. We've been beaten on four occasions by less than four points and have also drawn a match.
"So the indicators were there. I know we're second from bottom, but we are on a positive points difference, which shows how close we have been.
"The guys that came in were fantastic. Danny Kirmond was absolutely brilliant, I'm really excited about him and there was also (Leroy) Cudjoe and Lawrence.
"It's interesting that the team contained 14 English players and just three overseas players. That must be some sort of record."
Furious at his team's display, Rovers head coach Justin Morgan issued an apology to the 2,500 fans who travelled across the M62 for the game.
He said: "It was extremely difficult to watch. We lacked effort and it was hard to stomach. I was embarrassed. I'd like to apologise to the fans who made the effort to make the trip here.
"Michael Dobson will come into the side for the Harlequins game and hopefully we'll see an improvement.
"It's given us a kick up the backside. Credit to John Sharp and his crew. They've had a rough time of late, but did a good job to turn around a one-sided result in seven days."
Giants made a mockery of their alarming form, which had seen them lose eight of their previous 11 matches.
Rovers, with four wins from their previous five matches, drew first blood when Paul Cooke's sublime pass was latched on to by Scott Murrell, who sauntered over, Cooke converting.
But that was as good as it got for the visitors, with Giants hitting back six minutes later with teenager Lawrence's scorching run seeing him surge past Jake Webster, before setting up Martin Aspinwall, who went over in the corner.
Giants, aided by a succession of penalties, proceeded to dominate and Shane Elford finished off a delightful six-man move on 17 minutes, Luke Robinson missing his second conversion.
But the former Salford half-back played a decisive hand when Giants claimed another try close to the half hour, burrowing over from dummy-half; Chris Thorman tagged on the goal.
Giants wrapped up a polished first half when Lawrence again showed blistering pace to breeze past Ben Cockayne and Webster following a sweeping move started by Paul Whatuira's long-range run, Thorman converting.
Huddersfield's momentum continued after the restart, John Skandalis going over from close range - Thorman again adding the goal - before the hosts sealed the win with a stunning score.
Fantastic work from Whatuira and Elford set up youngster Leroy Cudjoa, who dived over for his first try for the club.
Giants were running riot and added another score - their fourth try in just under 15 minutes - when Whatuira powered over following Danny Kirkmond's initial break.
Replacement Rhys Lovegrove did salvage some pride for Rovers with a 67th-minute try from Cooke's pass, but Giants put gloss on their triumph soon after when former Rovers player Andy Raleigh crossed.
Peter Fox got a late score for Rovers, after latching onto Cooke's kick, before Cockayne was sin-binned for a high tackle. Thorman landed the penalty.
The impressive Lawrence dived over in the final moments, to put the seal on a fantastic afternoon for the Giants, with Thorman's conversion ensuring they reached a half century of points.
