Dons half-back Kyle Briggs looked lively in the opening exchanges, but it was Town's newest recruit, Aussie Chris Young, who went over from close-range in the 15th minute. Carl Forber added the extras.
Back came the Yorkshiremen, and five minutes
later Briggs drilled a penalty down the right touchline. Jason Hart drove the ball close to the Town line, before fellow substitute Michael Haley crashed over. Briggs's easy conversion attempt came back off the upright.
This could have signalled a revival for the visitors as the speedy Dean Colton, Wayne Reittie and Sam Reay all looked capable of adding to their total. But Town's defence was outstanding and tries from Sean Lunt (22), and Jason Mossop (28), both converted by Forber, saw Town go in 18-4 at the break.
Doncaster's inability to find the finishing touch proved costly as Lunt (47) and Brett Smith (55) crossed for the home side. Forber added both goals.
Town did tire in the final quarter, Colton going in nine minutes from time after a Craig Lawton break. Briggs added the extras for 30-10 but Town had the final say two minutes from time when Forber added a penalty for a perfect six out of six to complete a superb victory for Town.
