Fly-half Tom Rhodes was probing every angle, while in the forwards were performing admirably and although they were unable to influence the Albion scrummage, they were dominating the lineout until hooker James Parkes's injury.
With injuries mounti
ng, new faces No 7 Jacob Rowan, centre Luther Burrell, winger Peter Wackett and second-row Tom Denton fitted in seamlessly as Otley went into an early lead.
Winning a lineout in the Plymouth 22 they drove to the line only to concede a penalty, but they came straight back, this time gaining a penalty, which Rhodes kicked.
The score was levelled when fly-half Kieran Hallett, after being wide with a drop goal attempt, was given a simple penalty. Rhodes reclaimed the lead with a second penalty and it was 34 minutes before left winger Robin Kitching came across to join the line at outside centre and carve through.
A change of plan by the visitors saw endless mauling pay dividends as David Palu twice made strong breaks and Otley No 6 Rob Baldwin was caught on his 22 and centre Arran Cruickshanks touched down a neat kick to the line.
Baldwin made amends, taking an inside pass from No 8 Mike McComish to score and Otley were looking comfortable before being hit by tries from centre Keni Fisilau, winger Justin Mensah-Coker and, in the final minute, replacement hooker Gareth Evans, Hallett converting all four tries.
