SHEFFIELD United striker Rob Hulse has been given permission to speak to Derby County over a proposed £1.5m move to Pride Park.

Hulse has spent the last two seasons at Bramall Lane, but was sidelined for nine months by a broken leg suffered in a Premier League game at Chelsea.

After returning to the side last season, he failed to find the target in his 24 appearances.

M
anager Kevin Blackwell will not want to lose both Hulse and James Beattie whose future has also been the subject of speculation.

Former England international Beattie is currently absent from the club's pre-season tour of Europe due to a 'calf strain'.

Derby manager Paul Jewell is also set to sign Watford striker Marlon King.

Blades midfielder Sun Jihai, meanwhile, could be banned for the club's opening game of the season against Birmingham City after being sent off during a pre-season friendly in Belgium.

The Chinese international, snapped up on a free transfer from Manchester City, was shown the red card for two late challenges as the Blades recorded a 3-1 victory over KVK Tienen.

If referee Joeri Van De Velde includes the incident in his report to the Belgian FA, it will lead to a one-game ban which will start 14 days after the notice is received by the English FA.
