It was another big day of football action with crunch relegation and promotion ties involving many of our clubs.
Sheffield Wednesday came from a goal down to snatch a vital win over fellow strugglers Leicester and climb out of the Championship relegation zone.

Iai
n Hulme put the home side into an early lead but Bartosz Slusarski drilled an equaliser after Deon Burton had missed a penalty for the Owls.

Steve Watson steered Wednesday in front just after the break before Hume blasted a Leicester penalty wide.

Substitute Leon Clarke then volleyed home at the death to clinch the points.

A superb late header from Hull captain Ian Ashbee kept his side in the hunt for automatic promotion and damaged Crystal Palace's play-off hopes.

Mark Hudson hit the post for Palace early on, before Hull's Dean Windass smashed a free-kick against the bar.

Frasier Campbell put Hull ahead on 18 minutes with a sharp finish from 20 yards out but Palace levelled after a defensive mix-up let Scott Sinclair in.

And Ashbee converted Dean Marney's corner to settle it on 85 minutes.

A Gary Speed brace earned Sheffield United victory over Bristol City and kept their slim play-off hopes alive.

City, already assured of a play-off place, went ahead through Michael McIndoe's penalty after Ugo Ehiogu brought down Dele Adebola in the area.

United levelled four minutes later when Speed headed in Michael Tonge's corner.

They took the lead when Speed converted from the spot after McIndoe was judged to have handled the ball and despite intense City pressure they held on.

Barnsley secured their Championship status for next season with a comfortable win over Charlton.

Winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce struck early on for the hosts with a low shot from inside the penalty area after his first effort had been blocked.

Ccentre-half Lewin Nyatanga doubled the Tykes' advantage from close-range before the interval.

And Striker Jon Macken made sure Barnsley won on home soil for the first time in five attempts with a third, heading home five minutes from the end.

Doncaster moved into the second automatic promotion place with one game to go, thanks to this routine victory over bottom club Luton.

The home side almost opened the scoring through James Coppinger, before Brian Stock's corner was flicked on by Mark McCammon and Matthew Mills was on hand to break the deadlock (34).

McCammon made the points safe when he headed home Gareth Roberts' cross (82).

Andy Booth grabbed his ninth goal of the season to seal Huddersfield's third win in a row as they comfortably saw off Walsall in a mid-table encounter.

Huddersfield, who announced new manager Stan Ternent in midweek, went ahead on 40 minutes through Danny Schofield's fine finish after Andy Holdsworth sent him clear.

Walsall went close through Kevin Betsy's curling effort after the break but the home side were the more dangerous attacking force throughout.

Booth settled the game when he planted a firm header past keeper Clayton Ince.

MK Dons were finally crowned League Two champions with one match left to go as they won at Bradford.

Lloyd Dyer crossed for Jude Stirling (13) to head the Dons in front, and Stirling turned provider for Dyer (18) to sidefoot his long throw-in home.

Bantam Joe Colbeck was shown a straight red card for a foul on Dean Lewington before Omar Daley (45) pulled one back for the hosts, while Aaron Wilbraham almost scored a third but hit the bar.

Mansfield's Football League status is hanging by a thread after Rotherham substitute Jamie Yates netted a freak goal to give the Millers victory.

The Stags will be relegated on Tuesday if Chester draw with Stockport.

Mickey Boulding and Nathan Arnold forced saves from Andy Warrington, while United's Tom Cahill was twice denied by keeper Jason White.

Then Yates' effort, over 40 yards from goal, somehow dropped in underneath the crossbar and over the horrified White.

Furious Stags fans tried to storm the boardroom to get at owner Keith Haslam as the final whistle brought furious scenes on the pitch and in the stand.

Stags now face an uncertain week with their League future uncertain, while Rotherham's very existence continues to be in the balance.

In the Blue Square Premiership, Halifax survived the threat of relegation on the final day of the season despite losing 2-1 at home to Stevenage.

Steve Morison had put Borough ahead midway through the first half before Gavin Grant struck from the edge of the area to double the advantage.

Morison turned from hero to villain when he handballed inside the area and Jon Shaw tucked away the penalty.

Town were unable to force a second, making for an anxious conclusion for their fans until news filtered in of Altrincham's result.

Altrincham's draw with Weymouth left Town a point clear of the drop zone leaving to look forward to Blue Square Premier football next season.

Another side to have their relegation confirmed was Farsley Celtic who lost 3-1 at home to Grays Athletic.

John Deacy's men fell behind in the 17th minute when Jamie Taylor connected with a low cross from Danny Kedwell.

Farsley levelled in the 34th minute with Stephen Downes' penalty, awarded when Adam Gross handballed in the area.

But Jeff Goulding fired home left-footed in the 71st minute and Kedwell slotted home a third eight minutes later to seal Farsley's fate.

York also lost as they went down 3-0 away to Salisbury.
Salisbury ended their first season in the Blue Square Premier on a high as they eased past out-of-sorts York.

City's season-long weakness defending crosses into their box was exposed after 34 minutes when Liam Feeney curled in for Tim Bond to score.

And after 37 minutes Matthew Robinson turned provider from out wide for Matt Tubbs to fire home the second.

York substitute Onome Sodje struck the post after the break, but Feeney sealed the win with a strike from 20 yards.
