Three days later Hull host Tottenham before rounding off the opening week at the KC Stadium against Bolton.
Phil Brown's side host Manchester United on Boxing Day and Liverpool on the final day of the Premier League season, Sunday May 9.
Burnley's first Premier League campaign begins at Stoke City before three days later they entertain champions Manchester United.
The Football League season kicks off on August 8 with Sheffield Wednesday hosting Barnsley in a South Yorkshire derby. Wednesday travel to newly relegated Newcastle United in their third game of the season on Wednesday August 19. The Owls hosts Newcastle on Boxing Day.
Sheffield United, beaten in the play-off final last month, travel to relegated Middlesbrough and open their home campaign against Watford. Leicester away is their Boxing Day fixture.
The first Sheffield derby is on Saturday September 19 at Bramall Lane with the return scheduled for Saturday April 17.
Doncaster Rovers look to kick on in the Championship and begin at Watford. Doncaster are at Newcastle on October 24, while seven days later the Magpies visit Bramall Lane.
In League One, the harsh reality of a third season in the third tier hits home for Leeds United who host Exeter City on the opening day, who two years ago were playing in the Conference.
Lee Clark's first full season in charge of Huddersfield Town begins away at Southend United. Town's first home game seven days later is against Southampton while Leeds are at newly-promoted Wycombe.
The first West Yorkshire derby is at Elland Road on Saturday December 5 with the return at the Galpharm Stadium on Saturday February 27.
Leeds host Hartlepool on Boxing Day.
In League Two, Rotherham United and Bradford City begin their promotion campaigns at home to Accrington Stanley and away at Notts County respectively.
The Bantams and the Millers meet at Valley Parade on Saturday December 12 with the return on Saturday March 6 at Don Valley Stadium.
