rowing: A trio of Yorkshire’s Beijing Olympic medallists take the next step on the journey to London 2012 at the rowing trials this weekend.
Skipton-raised Olympic champion Andy Hodge, Guiseley’s Debbie Flood and Bradford-born Matt Wells are among 93 rowers aiming for a place in the British team for the summer Olympics.
City of York oarsman Tom Ransley is also competing, as are Kat Copeland and Chris Boddy from Stockton on Tees.
The trials take on the format of head-to-head competition in either single sculls or pairs, with which boats the rowers qualify for only decided upon at the crew formation testing event which follows the trials.
Rowers who are named in the squad on April 4 will compete at the first World Cup regatta of the season in Belgrade from May 4-6.
