The long-standing rivals will meet at The O2 on Sunday - televised live on BBC at 3.30pm - and champions Leicester will be favourites for the title.

Guard Brooks said: ”The fact is both teams deserve to be there, we are both competitive and we both want to win it.

“We had a lot of different results against Leicester and we had injuries but none of that matters, the slate is clean and we have to bring everything we got to be the champions.

“The team are focussed we know we are the underdogs here, Leicester have a great squad and they already have two trophies so they have the big stage experience and they know what to expect.

“For us, we have nothing to lose but to dig deep and play with every bit of heart and make it a game that we will all remember”.

The Sharks will be missing key duo Colin Sing and Patrick Horstmann in the final. Sing is due to undergo shoulder surgery and will not return to the line-up until the new season.

“Having two less big men against the Riders is a big miss, especially as they are so big as a squad and I’m sure they will try to capitalise on that, said Brooks.

“But to be honest we have adjusted as well as possible we just need a superhuman performance from the guys we have left!”
