Bennett-Keer gives Fields survival boost

Kristian Ward hit an unbeaten 36 as Townville knocked off the runs in 21 overs to move closer to lifting the championship for the first time since 2007.

Bottom-side Northowram Fields defeated Batley by 11 runs in the only other completed Premier Division match. Batley’s Chinnada Rudramurthy (6-18) skittled Batley for 99. In reply, Josh Bennett-Keer 
(7-51) routed Batley for 88, with the last three wickets falling for just two runs.

Chris Holliday (114) put on 117 with Marcus Walmsley (49) and shared a 96-run stand with Ryan Meyer (61) as Methley piled up 359-7 at Mirfield Parish Cavaliers.

Cavaliers replied with 92-4 from 17 overs before play was abandoned.

Hunslet Nelson were rescued by rain at Carlton. Simon Stirling smashed six sixes in 97 off 81 balls as Carlton posted 203 and Jonathan Rudge (3-25) and Chris Leaf (2-18) reduced Hunslet’s reply to 60-6 from 19.5 overs before the weather intervened. All-rounder Johannes Bothma (35 and 3-23) shone for Wakefield Thornes in a rain-ruined match at Altofts.

Hopton Mills stayed on course for the Division One title with a nine-wicket win at Wakefield Thornes who were toppled for 88 by Michael Carroll (5-32), Tahmidul Islam (3-1) and Ashley Mackereth (2-38).

Hopton are five points clear of Scholes who were bowled out for 132 by East Ardsley’s Adam Pearson (5-41), Ashley Pearson (3-44) and David Battye (2-26). East Ardsley were 50-1 from 14 overs when the game was abandoned.

An unbeaten half-century by Jonathan Gardiner steered Oulton to an eight-wicket victory against Buttershaw St Paul’s who were routed for 88 by David Flint (5-28).

St Michael’s John Bowett (56no) and Richard Atkinson (45no) shared a century stand in a 10-wicket win at Methley.
