‘Constructive’ talks held over proposed changes

The England and Wales Cricket Board have described an initial meeting with representatives of all 18 first-class counties and the MCC to discuss the recommendations made in the Morgan Review as “constructive”.

Some counties have expressed fears over the proposals, which include a reduction in the number of matches played in the County Championship.

The results of yesterday’s meeting will be reported back to the ECB Board in March. If the review is ratified, England’s 18 counties will play only 14 championship matches per season from 2014. It also recommends the increase of List A matches from 40 overs to 50.

The Proteas won the Test series 2-1 and wrapped up the five-match one-day series 3-2. He won just one of 11 Tests as captain, and eight of 21 ODIs.

Bangladesh A squared their Twenty20 series against England Lions with an 11-run victory.

The hosts successfully defended their 166-6 despite Tom Maynard’s 68 in the Lions’ reply of 155-7, in which Yorkshire’s Jonny Bairstow scored five.
