Academy star Brook underlines his credentials at the Grange

Teenager Harry Brook starred as Yorkshire Academy racked up 303-9 on their way to a comprehensive victory at Woodhouse Grange in Yorkshire Premier North.

Opener Brook, an England Under-19 international, hit 29 fours and three sixes in racing to 178 off 135 balls to provide the backbone of the innings. Even though Steve Burdett followed up a 4-78 spell with an unbeaten 68, Grange could only manage 183-8.

Harrogate needed a sparkling 81 not out from Josh Atkinson to help them recover from losing their first four wickets for 12 runs against Stamford Bridge.

Atkinson put on 62 with Ed Wilson (32) and an unbroken 51 with Jonny McGregor (20no) to edge his side past the visitors’ 161 with two wickets to spare.

A fifth-wicket stand of 127 between Ben Elvidge (107) and Theo Smith (50) helped Scarborough to 243-7 which proved too good for Driffield Town despite half centuries from James Pick and Grant Halder.

Andrew Simpson (70) and Chris Grey (110) set the platform for Hull’s 238-5 but Clifton Alliance openers Jack Beath (84) and Greg Drewery (30) put on 157 and John Gilham (50no) saw them to a four-wicket win.

Duncan Snell’s 128, which included 18 fours, and a 12-over spell of 6-36 were the highlight of York’s 31-run win over Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

Hamid Khan (49), Kyle Waite (96) and Mathew Turnbull (75no) starred in Easingwold’s 270-4 but opener Matthew Dale (92) got Acomb off to a good start and Tom Neal (51no) clinched a three-wicket win with three balls to spare.

In the Bradford Premier, Pudsey St Lawrence’s middle order, led by Chris Marsden (66), took them to 234-7 and Marsden (3-53) and Charlie Parker (4-32) restricted Lightcliffe to 212.

Woodlands raced to 268-8 with No 10 Elliott Richardson topping things off with five sixes in his 47 not out to set up a 147-run win over Cleckheaton.

Amar Rashid’s 5-5 spell saw New Farnley struggle to 106 and East Bierley won by three wickets thanks to Shaaiq Choudary’s unbeaten 35.

Chris Henry (4-30) again starred as Farsley skittled opponents cheaply, this time Pudsey Congs for 80, a target they passed in 20.3 overs.

Half-centuries from Nick Connolly and Calum Geldart saw Hanging Heaton ease past Bradford & Bingley’s modest 116 total.

Sam Moore smashed nine sixes in making 94 off 50 balls as Aire Wharfe champions Beckwithshaw continued their winning defence against Pool, whose 187 total owed much to David Paynter (102) and Ryan Sharrocks (61).
