Mason knocks York into national stages

York overcame league rivals Barnsley in the Group Two final qualify from the regional stages of the National Knockout Cup.
Simon Mason set up the win with 72 in 91 balls, putting on 62 with Ashley Hulme (57) as York reached 181-7 in their 45 overs.
Barnsley were never in the race though a late flurry by Steve Nuttall and Tom Shaw taking them to within 16 of victory.
PONTEFRACT League champions Streethouse reached the last 16 of the National Village Cup with an eight-wicket win over Northumberland side Warkworth.
Premier Division aces Treeton met with their first defeat of the season in South Yorkshire League cricket when comprehensively beaten by Wickersley in the semi-finals of the League's Knockout competition, the Whitworth Cup, yesterday.
Wickersley set a stiff target of 267-9, with Shahid Hussain slamming 81 and Scott Cunningham an unbeaten 79, with Cunningham rounding off a fine all-round performance by claiming 4-35 as Treeton fell for 190, Steve Foster cracking a defiant 98.

Jamie Pickering (70no) and Niall Coleman (41no) saw the visitors to a comfortable win.
