Nicholsons combine to ease relegation fears
JCT 600 Bradford
Bradford & Bingley strengthened their position at the top Division One with a hard-earned three-wicket win over champions Woodlands.
David Clow steered his side to their latest triumph with an unbeaten 51 and he shared an unbroken eight-wicket stand of 53 with Yorkshire and England star Matthew Hoggard, who finished 26 not out.
Hoggard had earlier finished wicket less as James Davies (4-38), Will Briggs (3-41), and Matthew Cockshott (3-35) bowled out Woodlands for 181. Former Yorkshire batsman Scott Richardson (51no) was the one batsman to make an impression.
Bradford & Bingley now have a 15-point lead over Baildon, who crushed bottom team Hanging Heaton by nine wickets. Captain Ian Philliskirk (52no) sped them to their victory after spinners Mushtaq Ahmed (4-11) and Harry Smallwood (3-21) had combined with Craig Hitchenor (3-10) to dismiss Hanging Heaton for 101.
Pudsey St Lawrence lost by six wickets to Cleckheaton. Ian Nicholson (80no) and his dad Neil (37no) steered their side to a win which eases their relegation worries. Ian Wood (4-60) had helped restrict St Lawrence to 216-8 on a good batting pitch.
Farsley also eased their relegation fears by timing their run chase to perfection to beat Yeadon by four wickets.
Shabbir Rashid (63) and Yorkshire's James Lee (54) were assisted by captain David Syers (37no) and Lorenzo Inghram (37) as Yeadon's 225-6 was surpassed. Dan Shuffe made a fine 102 with three sixes and 12 fours.
Yorkshire's Richard Pyrah made an unbeaten 89 as Pudsey Congs made 265-4 and beat Manningham Mills by 18 runs. Adam Patel (63) and Andy Siddall (48) were the other main contributors as Congs were the only team in the top flight to win batting first. Shahban Raheem (53) led Mills' spirited reply of 247-8.
Fifth-placed Saltaire recorded their seventh win, by four wickets at Gomersal.
Undercliffe's Yorkshire player Chris Taylor made 124 in their 119-run win over Great Horton, who are rooted to the bottom of Division Two.
Leaders Bankfoot were made to battle for a five-wicket win at Hartshead Moor. John Barton hit four sixes in a breezy 33 not out as Bankfoot overhauled 180-9 with an over to spare.
