Essex qualified thanks to their match against Sussex Sharks being abandoned after 32.3 overs, while the complete washout between Warwickshire and Kent Spitfires meant Hampshire also made it through.

The tie will be played on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of next week.

Positioning for second and third was settled when Hampshire’s match against table-toppers Notts was rained off after the Outlaws had reached 256 for three thanks to 81 from Riki Wessels.

Kent had faced a wait, as a Lancashire Lightning win against Glamorgan would have seen the Red Rose through at their expense.

However, a washout at Old Trafford sent Kent into the last eight in fourth place in Group B, owing to their net run rate being better than those of Lancashire and Warwickshire.

Kent will travel to Group A toppers Surrey at the last-eight stage, while Hampshire will face Gloucestershire with Notts taking on Durham.
