Relegation battle is hotting up for Adel

Aire/Wharfe With just seven games remaining, some of the teams threatened with relegation are starting to show the kind of form that might allow them to escape.

None is doing better than Adel, who have been in the bottom two most of the season, but picked up four points against Otley to take their tally to 16 from the last 18 and put them to within two points of Pool, who are just above them.

Faced with an Otley side fresh from beating the top two, Adel set a target of 212-8 with John Francas hitting 62. Marvin Shires

(4-45) and Tim Grey (3-45) then managed to restrict the visitors to 160-8 despite 60 from Sam Smith.

There was a similar fighting spirit at the bottom of Division Two where a half-century from Imran Mirza helped bottom club Calverley to victory over promotion hopefuls Olicanian, while Luke Waters (74), Fawad Maqsood (72) and Nadeem Hanif

(6-76) were the heroes as Tong Park Esholt took five valuable points at Steeton.

It is as you were at the top of Division One after a 6-16 spell from Nick Brook clinched a 104-run win for leaders Burley over Pool, while 102 in 112 balls, including 20 boundaries, from John Inglis was the highlight as Beckwithshaw maintained their challenge with a nine-wicket win over Kirkstall Educational.

Collingham haven't given up hope of grabbing the title and kept on course with a win over Rawdon thanks to Dalton Colius (57) and Toby Jacklin whose 7-68 was the sixth time he has taken five or more wickets this season.

Bowlers dominated at Thackley where Chris Wain (5-47) restricted the home side to 157 but Mahir Ali (8-48) skittled out Guiseley for 100.

Bilton took another giant step towards the Division Two title, Phil Timmens (5-35) and Rashid Ayoub (5-37) dismissing second placed Harden for 72, setting up a nine-wicket win.

Jamie Ford (83no) was the star as Follifoot notched their sixth win in seven matches to take over second spot after Nick Louden (4-23) kept Knaresborough to 169-8 in which Adam Pryor (62) hit his fourth half-century in a row.

Anker Sondhi hit 61 in Illingworth's 126 but it wasn't nearly enough to stop Bolton Villas who got home by six wickets with Chris Hizzett (39) and Barry Hawksworth (44no) leading the way.
