Tomlinson smashes Treeton to easy win
Stafforce South Yorkshire
Unbeaten Premier Division leaders Treeton maintained their ten-point lead over Wath when hosts Houghton Main were restricted to 147-9, only Rich Jones staying at the crease for long, with 63, against the attack of Steve Foster and Ben Ashdown.
Treeton knocked off the runs in a hurry, Andy Tomlinson clubbing 15 fours and six sixes in his unbeaten 111, the only top-flight century-maker of the day, in the 150-3 reply.
Wath answered Tickhill's 172-8 with 173-7, main men for the victors, stalwart Steve Reynolds (43), James Barnard (40) and Gayan Fernando (4-60) while top bat for the section's bottom club was Kashif Raza (44).
The keenly-anticipated match between old rivals Whitley Hall and Elsecar was a disappointment to spectators and to Whitley, who were rushed out for only 83, damage done by Ainsley Swallow (5-8) and Sri Lankan newcomer Manaj Chanaka (3-35). Elsecar, champions for the past two seasons, strolled to a nine-wicket triumph, Jason Meadows striking 40 not out.
Wickersley were high scorers, declaring at 273-7 aainst Sheffield Collegiate, skipper John Trower continuing his fine season with a knock of 80, including 16 boundaries, Liam Heathcote weighing in with 66, and Darren Pugh adding 49. When Collegiate's last wicket fell at 205, James Colton cracking a defiant 90 with 14 boundaries, and Shahid Hussain claiming 5-45, Wickersley became the only Premier Division club to pick up maximum points.
Former Wickersley star Haider Jahangir slammed 89 in the Phoenix total of 220-3, Asadullah Butt weighing in with an unbeaten 58, hosts Darfield hanging on at 183-9 to avoid outright defeat, Craig Pickerill the main batsman with 41.
South African Graham Fawkes cracked 50 as Hallam set a target of 195 for Barnsley at Shaw Lane, Jim Tasker and Chris Hughes sharing the home wickets as Barnsley closed at 130 all out.
Closest match in Division One saw Elsecar B throw down a
237-9 challenge, Mark Gee hitting 67 and Mark Kingston (52), visitors Doncaster Town needing three off last ball of the match for victory – and scoring two to tie the game at 237-8.
