The all-rounder has not featured since the champion county game against MCC in Abu Dhabi in March owing to a calf injury. But he has been named in a 14-man squad as Yorkshire seek to make a winning start in the T20 Blast.

Yorkshire have had a busy week of preparation, including a practice match in York, and first-team coach Jason Gillespie insists they are shaping up well.

“We’ve had a good week of prep despite the weather,” he said. “We had a fantastic (training) session on Tuesday and then the game up at York.

“We’ve done the work over the winter and leading up to this week, so we’re confident that we’re ready to go.

“We’re really looking forward to going out there, and hopefully as many people can come through the gates as possible for our first game.”

Gillespie has been making sure the players are clear in their roles and he expects a tough challenge from Leicestershire.

“We’ve talked about making sure everyone’s really clear about their role in the team and basic game plans,” he said.

“We just want to get out there and play the best cricket we can and put on a show for the crowds. Leicestershire have recruited well over the winter.

“They’re a very experienced team and we’re going to have to play very well to compete with them.”
